An editorial in the New York Times blog suggested that Americans are not able to grasp ideas nor do they have any interest in the details.
Vladimir Lenin wrote:
"Most of the people just aren’t capable of thinking."
Lenin cleverly manipulated and exploited the ignorance of the masses through public education and disinformation:
"Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted."
"A lie told often enough becomes truth."
Karl Marx wrote:
"The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother’s care, shall be in public institutions."
Joseph Stalin added:
"The press is our greatest ally. Education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed."
Essentially, the state will teach the children what to think, and the press will tell the people what to believe.
The target of socialism, said Lenin, is the family:
"Destroy the family, you destroy the nation."
Lenin established daycare centers to socialize the children. To further erode the family structure, he organized a radical feminist movement to disparage the role of mother and housewife.
The social upheaval swept across Europe in the form of communism or fascism -- two divergent subsets of socialist ideology.
The American progressive movement adopted many of the features of European socialism including public education, feminist radicalization, progressive taxation, government regulation and a managed economy.
Jonah Goldberg -- editor-at-large of National Review Online -- wrote a book, Liberal Fascism, in which he stated that American liberalism is the unspoken cousin of European fascism.
Author Amanda Busse explains:
Goldberg argues in his book that fascism under Benito Mussolini and Nazism under Adolf Hitler came from the same intellectual source as Progressivism, the birth-mother of American liberalism. The term “liberal fascism” comes from a speech made by author H. G. Wells when he told a group of Young Liberals at Oxford that Progressives must become “liberal fascists” and “enlightened Nazis.”
The irony is that liberals, or progressives, will label "fascist" anyone who disagrees with them much like Hitler calling Stalin fascist.
Goldberg wrote:
Many modern liberals and leftists act as if they know exactly what fascism is. What’s more, they see it everywhere -- except when they look in the mirror. Indeed, the left wields the term like a cudgel to beat opponents from the square like seditious pamphleteers.
The similarities between fascism and American liberalism were further explored by author David Gordon:
Critics of Roosevelt’s New Deal often liken it to fascism. It was recognized to be true during the 1930’s by the New Deal’s supporters as well. When Roosevelt took office in March 1933, he received from Congress an extraordinary delegation of powers to cope with the Depression.
FDR virtually controlled all executive and legislative powers, and his illegal attempt to stack the Supreme Court was designed to usurp all judicial powers as well.
German historian Wolfgang Schivelbusch wrote:
The broad-ranging powers granted to Roosevelt by Congress were unprecedented in times of peace. Congress had, in effect, temporarily done away with itself as the legislative branch of government. The only remaining check (which FDR sought to undue) was the Supreme Court. It was a similar process that allowed Hitler to assume absolute power in Germany.
The Nazi press enthusiastically hailed the New Deal measures. America, like the Reich, had decisively broken with the concept of a free market economy. They praised Roosevelt’s adoption of National Socialist thought in his economic and social policies, and commended the president for a leadership style that was compatible with Hitler’s dictatorship.
Hitler told American ambassador William Dodd that he was in accord with the President in the view that the virtue of duty, sacrifice and discipline should dominate the people. These social demands are the essence of the German state in that a New World Order has replaced an antiquated emphasis on individual rights.
Author David Gordon noted that fascist dictator Benito Mussolini was fond of FDR’s policies which the Italian leader said "were reminiscent of a state-controlled economy". In reply, FDR said that he stayed in touch with Mussolini and "admired his enthusiasm to modernize Italy with an efficient piece of social machinery".
David Gordon concluded:
What impressed many people at the time was a new style of leadership common in America, Germany and Italy.
Mussolini, Hitler and Roosevelt were idolized. Former Senator Harry Reid said:
"There was no God, there was only FDR."
Hitler envisioned a New World Order in which the needs of the state supplanted the needs of the individual. Lenin said the state -- not the individual -- has exclusive rights. Speaking before the Center for America’s Progress -- a progressive think tank -- former president Bill Clinton articulated his belief that the Constitution is an outdated relic of the 18th century. He remarked that we must stop placing so much emphasis on the principle of individual rights in favor of a more collectivist approach. Collectivist is code for socialist.
Individual rights are the bedrock of our Constitution, but the Democrat Party no longer upholds our founding documents. These are perilous times, indeed.
