Reagan

"I won a nickname, The Great Communicator. But I never thought it was my style or the words I used that made a difference. I wasn't a great communicator, but I communicated great things (that) came from the heart of a great nation -- from our experience, our wisdom, and our belief in principles that have guided us for two centuries. They called it the Reagan Revolution. Well, I'll accept that, but for me it seemed like a great rediscovery, a rediscovery of our common sense and values."

"We cannot escape our destiny, nor should we try to do so. The leadership of the world was thrust upon us two centuries ago in that little hall of Philadelphia. Pope Pius XII said, The American people have a great genius for splendid and unselfish actions. Into the hands of America God has placed the destinies of an afflicted mankind."

"The lesson is that because we're a great nation, our challenges seem complex. It will always be this way. Once you begin a great movement, there's no telling where it will end. We meant to change a nation, and instead, we changed the world. We've done our part. We weren't just marking time. We made a difference."
