Ex-Levi's Exec Blasts Woke Culture

Former Levi’s executive Jennifer Sey reveals in her new book, “Levi’s Unbuttoned”, how the woke mob took her job. Her political views did not sit well with the company, so she was told to “Shut up or leave”.

Sey exposed the reason why corporate America has gone “woke”.
“Woke capitalism is corporate America’s attempt to profit off Millennial and Gen Z activism.”
“It exploits social-justice politics and transforms it into social-justice consumerism — and ultimately, investor profit. Companies purporting to care about ‘progressive values’ are really doing nothing more than striking a superficial pose meant to signal virtue while distracting from any company’s true motive: financial gain for shareholders.”
Younger consumers are the biggest spenders and most politically engaged in the woke movement. Companies, for the sake of their bottom line, cannot afford to offend this demographic.

Disney, as an example, cannot risk alienating its sizeable workforce of LGBTQIA employees which is why the company has lost economic favor with Florida politicians.

However, corporations are not as woke as they seem. In the end, it’s all about profit. Are companies willing to write-off millions of consumers who might disagree?

Sey noted that the Generation Gap has never been more pronounced as it is today.
“The internet catch phrase, ‘Okay Boomer’, reflects the dismissive and disrespectful attitude that young people have towards their parents and older people in general.”
“Young adults graduate from college with a sense of entitlement due to the fact that they see themselves as victims of social injustice, and they demand to be heard.”
“These 20- and 30-somethings are ideological terrorists, policing their peers and elders relentlessly.”
“The woke cancel culture began on college campuses and it has now taken over corporate boardrooms. Most CEOs know very little about social media which makes it all the easier for the woke mob to cow them into submission.”
“Don’t get me wrong: I’m not against capitalism. Far from it. I’m against the charade that is social-justice capitalism.”
What happens when half the country decides not to support companies that have gone woke? It seems that the more prudent course would be for a company to simply stay out of politics. Or has Levi-Strauss decided that it doesn't need to sell jeans to conservative-minded folk?

As a consumer, I am also free to decide. As is practical, I will not support companies that embrace an ideology that has essentially canceled my opinions.
