Talarico’s response to criticism over saying “God is nonbinary”:
“If someone’s got a problem with that statement … they should take it up with the Apostle Paul. In fact, the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Galatians said that in Christ there is neither male nor female.”
The exact citation from the KJV reads:
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Gal. 3:28)
The message is that God is not a respecter of persons no matter race, status or gender. It speaks of our equality in Jesus Christ.
The KJV reads “neither male nor female,” though the literal translation reads “neither male and female”.
The word and recalls Genesis 1:27 … "male and female created He them," which points to the biological and gender roles of men and women.
By citing this verse, Talarico is unknowingly acknowledging that there are two genders.
